Letter to Paul Johnson Chief Executive Officer 9 July 2024
9 July 2024 Dear Mr Johnson, SMBC Adult Social Services – Aloof from LGO Criticism and Public Scrutiny LGO Decision Ref: You will recall that Ms Edwards (LE), Ms Hutchinson (BH) and Ms Millard (KM) took themselves off to London at the end of May to influence the Local Government Ombudsman’s draft decision. However, despite that delegation, the decision was finalised thus. The Ombudsman’s final decision Summary: We found fault in the Council’s failure to consider the complaint about the withdrawal of support from the complainant’s (Mr X) daughters (Miss C and Miss D). The Council’s fault caused injustice to Mr X and his wife (Mrs X) as they had no opportunity to have their concerns investigated. The Council agreed to apologise and to consider Mr X’s complaint. In the minutes of that meeting produced by the Ombudsman, the is a section that reads thus LE said it would be helpful to know what the LGSCO felt the impact on Mr Brooks was, in the June 2023 complaint. The simple truth of the final paragraph is crystal clear and logical to which your Karen Millard, after being given the hurry up, being weeks late to respond, then cocked an Archers Salute to the Ombudsman thus –

Daughters are 42 years of age and been in Mr & Mrs X's care since birth.

How then will you reconcile a letter of apology with that statement?
Further to that, this person you have paid to ‘investigate’ this, despite my objections, has informed me that he will not so much as start work on it until 15 July 2024, over thirteen months after the original complaint. You couldn’t make it up. Could you? This exemplifies one of the greatest fears that unpaid carers carry like millstones around their necks – the vile contempt, insignificance and disdain that Self Serving Local Authorities – Solihull is a Case in Point – lacking in an intimation of contrition treat the true souls of Social Care, the unpaid carers.
I am inviting Nigel Ellis to look at your response in conjunction with the previously mentioned Cornwall report. In the meantime, I look forward to receiving the letter of apology and its tone. I will be in touch again shortly. |
